Hockey and sport have always played a key role in Troy's life, but it was at the University of New Brunswick where his coach, Mike Johnston, influences Troy's perspective on coaching. While at UNB, Troy gained a better understanding of high-performance sport and the key role culture plays in team success.
Troy is a designated Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC) and has his Advanced II NCCP certification through the Coaching Association of Canada. Currently, Troy is currently pursuing a leadership certificate from the University of New Brunswick.
The most rewarding aspect of coaching for Troy is the coach athlete relationship and helping his team and athletes achieve their goals, on and off the ice.
Troy has several moments in his coaching career that he would define as memorable, from seeing past players become coaches to walking into the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics.
