Discipline: Counselling Therapist

When did you start practicing? 2009

Why did you become a counselling therapist? I have always known I wanted a career that involved helping people. I started out studying Kinesiology with plans to become an athletic therapist; however, I became much more interested in how the mind influenced people and performance and eventually directed my focus to graduate work in Counselling Psychology. This is a field where I feel like I can have a positive impact on someone’s life and support them to make the changes that they need.

Please provide a few thoughts on working with high performance athletes: I very much enjoy working with high performance athletes as they are generally very determined individuals who encompass many unique life skills and have a desire to improve.
