Six New Brunswick judokas competed in the 2010 Junior National Judo Championships in Lethbridge, AB. In the U-17 men’s 60kg division Darcy Lavigne finished in 9th place while his team mate Lukas Nowak came away winning a bronze medal. Nowak defeated Simon Roedding of Ontario to earn his 3rd place finish. Meanwhile, Ian Traversy competed in the U-17 men’s 66kg division and finished in 9th place. On the women side, Emilie Green competed in the U-15 48kg division and finished in 7th place. In the U-20 women’s division, Vannessa St-Pierre (52kg) finished with a silver medal, while Martine Chenhall (70kg) finished in 7th place.

Dube qualifies for London Olympics

Nova Scotia has its first representative for this summer’s London Olympics. Sailor Danielle Dube of Glen Haven did well enough this week at a World Cup event in Miami, Fla., to pass Vancouver’s Isabella Bertold for Canada’s only Olympic berth in the laser radial class.
