Canada Games Sports Science Program-NB

WHAT IS IT?
The Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA) is supported by the four Atlantic provincial governments: Sport Canada, the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Coaching Association of Canada. The CSCA aims to offer efficient services for the sports community and meet the needs of athletes and coaches at national and provincial levels residing in Atlantic Canada.

The CSCA has continued to develop the Sport Science Program to assist Atlantic Canada’s athletes and coaches to achieve their optimal performances at the Canada Games. In this program the CSCA will work with Canada Games appointed coaches to coordinate a series of sessions with the CSCA’s professional sport science experts.

Teams enrolled in the Canada Games Sports Science Program will receive an integrated and tailored program of scientific support throughout the time leading up to the games. This will include (if applicable) mental training, nutrition, strength and conditioning programs and fitness testing.

Each discipline of the CSCA Integrated Support Team is an essential component for athletes training at an elite level.

IS MY TEAM ELIGIBLE?

To participate in this program teams must have:

  • Named their Canada Games coaching staff and team manager
  • Developed their selection criteria for their final cut CG athletes
  • Submitted their yearly training plan
  • Completed the CG sports science application form

Please note:

  • The initial consult between the team coach and the athlete services manager will establish how best to progress with the program

HOW DO I APPLY?

Finally please note that once enrolled in the program the coach and CG team manager will be given the contact details for the sports science service providers. The team will be responsible for scheduling sessions directly with these service providers.
